Crockpot Chili

Hello, my fellow foodie adventurers!

Today’s quest is a spicy triumph: Crockpot Chili! This hearty, classic chili is made easy with spicy seasoned pinto beans slow-cooked all day alongside the best chili fixings—ham bone, ground beef, onions, peppers, garlic, and diced tomatoes—and you’ll love how it transforms into a delicious, no-fuss meal. Picture this: a rich, smoky broth bubbling away in your crockpot, getting better the longer it cooks—perfect for busy cold days when you can just dump everything in and let it do its thing. It was a bit warm for it today, and by the time I finished eating, I was sweating, lol, but oh, it was worth those hot flashes! Ready to wield your crockpot and claim this treasure?

Ingredients You’ll Need (Quest Inventory)

  • 1 lb. pinto beans, rinsed (the hearty legion)
  • 5 cups chicken broth (the savory tide)
  • 1 ham bone (the smoky anchor)
  • 28 oz. petite diced tomatoes (the ruby spoils)
  • 1 beef bouillon cube (the rich spark)
  • 1 sweet onion, chopped (the golden root)
  • 1 bell pepper, chopped (the vibrant herald)
  • 2 tbsp. diced jalapeño peppers (the fiery sting)
  • 4 tsp minced garlic (the bold essence)
  • 1 lb. lean ground beef (the meaty champion)
  • 1 tsp adobo seasoning (the zesty blend)
  • 1 tsp salt (the seasoning rune)
  • 1 tsp black pepper (a shadow kiss)
  • 2 tbsp. chili powder (the smoky flame)
  • 2 tbsp. ground cumin (the earthy whisper)
  • 1 tbsp. fresh cilantro, chopped (fragrant banners)
  • 1 tsp Cholula (the spicy kick)
  • 1 bay leaf (the ancient guardian)
  • Optional Garnishes:
    • Cheese, shredded (molten treasure)
    • Sour cream (the creamy crown)
    • Fritos (the crunchy allies)

How to Forge the Feast (The quest steps)

  • Fill the Cauldron: Add 1 lb. rinsed pinto beans, 5 cups chicken broth, 1 ham bone, 28 oz. petite diced tomatoes, 1 beef bouillon cube, 1 chopped sweet onion, 1 chopped bell pepper, 2 tbsp. diced jalapeño peppers, 4 tsp minced garlic, 1 lb. lean ground beef, 1 tsp adobo seasoning, 1 tsp salt, 1 tsp black pepper, 2 tbsp. chili powder, 2 tbsp. ground cumin, 1 tbsp. chopped cilantro, 1 tsp Cholula, and 1 bay leaf to your crockpot—stir to combine.
  • Set the Magic: Cover and cook on high heat for 8 hours—stir occasionally to break up the ground beef and pull the meat from the ham bone, blending the flavors.
  • Adjust the Tide: If the chili thickens too much, add 1 cup water as needed to reach your desired consistency—stir well.
  • Remove the Guardian: Discard the bay leaf once cooking is complete—your potion is ready!
  • Serve the Triumph: Divide the chili among serving bowls—garnish with shredded cheese, a dollop of sour cream, and a handful of Fritos if desired.
  • Claim Your Feast: Savor this hearty, spicy delight—perfect for warming up any day!

Tips Tricks & Variations

This Crockpot Chili is a cold-day classic reborn, but every Kitchen Quest hero needs a few clever moves and twists to master the craft. Here’s how to wield your skills and remix this dish like a true flavor bard!

Cooking Tricks:

  • Bean Hack: Soak the pinto beans overnight—cuts cooking time to 4-6 hours on high!
  • Meat Boost: Brown the ground beef first in a skillet—adds extra depth to the champion.
  • Flavor Tip: Add the cilantro in the last hour—preserves its fresh, fragrant banners.
  • Thickness Trick: Mash a few beans against the side of the crockpot—natural thickener for a heartier texture.

Tasty Variations:

  • Spicy Skirmish: Double the jalapeños or add cayenne—ignite a fiercer flame for the bold!
  • Veggie Vault: Toss in diced carrots or zucchini—extra loot for your chili realm.
  • Meat Twist: Swap ham bone for sausage or turkey—shifts the anchor to a new protein.
  • Sweet Quest: Stir in a tbsp. of brown sugar—balances the heat with a subtle sweetness!
  • Garnish Pact: Top with avocado or green onions—new allies to elevate the feast!
