BAKED TORTELLINI CASSEROLE

Tortellini tossed in a homemade meat sauce smothered with melty mozzarella cheese and baked to cheesy goodness.

 

Quick meals are so nice and busy weeknights. This easy Italian recipe is Delicious with this fresh frozen tortellini. And, the meat sauce comes together very quickly.

 

WHAT YOU NEED

olive oil
lean ground beef
yellow onion
minced garlic
crushed tomatoes
tomato sauce
salt
black pepper
package fresh cheese tortellini
mozzarella cheese

 

HOW TO MAKE IT

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Sautee onions and garlic in olive oil, until soft.

Add ground beef and season with salt and pepper.

Once the beef is cooked through, stir in tomatoes and tomato sauce.

Stir in uncooked, fresh tortellini and 1 1/2 cups of mozzarella cheese.

Transfer to the casserole dish and sprinkle the remaining cheese over the top.

Cover tightly with foil and bake for about 30 minutes.

Serve and enjoy.

  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 1 yellow onion (diced)
  • 2 tsp minced garlic
  • 28 oz crushed tomatoes
  • 8 oz tomato sauce
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 24 oz fresh cheese tortellini
  • 3 cups grated mozzarella cheese

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Sautee onions and garlic in olive oil, until soft.
  • Add ground beef and season with salt and pepper
  • Once the beef is cooked through, stir in tomatoes and tomato sauce.
  • Stir in uncooked tortellini and 1.5 cups of the mozzarella cheese.
  • Transfer to the casserole dish and sprinkle the remaining cheese over the top.
  • Cover tightly with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
  • Remove from oven sprinkle on a little basil, or parsley.
  • Serve with a side salad and breadsticks
