Hello, my foodie friends!

Today, I have a delightful surprise for you. Remember the other day when I whipped up that giant pot of my Spicy Homemade Marinara Sauce? We still have some of that delectable sauce left. While I could jar it for longer storage, we’ve decided to savor it over the next few days.

Here in Oklahoma, we experienced a snow day today. I was home from work, and with Kevin working remotely, we found ourselves together for lunch. Scouring the kitchen, we discovered a package of spaghetti noodles. With plenty of marinara sauce remaining, a quick and hearty spaghetti meal was the perfect choice. Though it was just simple dried pasta, the rich and spicy homemade sauce elevated our impromptu lunch.

We typically avoid keeping an abundance of snack foods around the house to maintain a healthier lifestyle. However, it’s always good to have nutritious options on hand. Here are some healthy snacks you might consider: I know I should because today when we can’t leave the house. I had none of  this available to me.

  • Roasted Chickpeas: A crunchy and protein-packed alternative to chips.

  • Greek Yogurt with Mixed Berries: A creamy treat rich in protein and antioxidants.

  • Veggies with Hummus: Fresh vegetables paired with hummus make for a satisfying and fiber-rich snack.

  • Nuts and Seeds: Almonds, walnuts, and sunflower seeds provide healthy fats and keep you feeling full.

  • Cottage Cheese with Fruit: A delightful combination of creamy and sweet that’s both nutritious and filling.

  • Jerky: Opt for low-sodium varieties of beef, turkey, or salmon jerky for a protein-rich snack that doesn’t require refrigeration.

  • Granola or Protein Bars: Choose bars with minimal added sugars and wholesome ingredients to keep you energized throughout the day.

  • Canned Tuna or Salmon: These can be enjoyed on their own or with whole-grain crackers for a quick protein boost.

  • Seaweed Snacks: These are low in calories and packed with vitamins and minerals, offering a unique and healthy snacking experience.

Keeping these wholesome snacks readily available can make it easier to choose healthy options when hunger strikes.

Stay warm and enjoy your culinary adventures!
